Short Trackin at Daytona in 2013!!!!!

Nascar finally remembered it has some awesome short track touring series and is going to throw some money at them and see what happens.

Yup, it'll be a .4 mile flat oval on the backstretch, I'm guessing basically a large Legends track cutting into the apron area. Don't know where pit road would be.

I imagine they will use the infield road course, the access road connects directly up to it.

The Infeild as a track itself looks like a good track to use.

Would like to see that actually...

Go down in March, the amateur bike riders use the infield course. The pros use the same track as the Rolex cars do.

Re: Awesome Daytona Short Track news!!

My understanding is they are going to make a temporary .4 mile oval back on the Superstretch. My guess is that it will be a flat .4 mi. oval where they will paint in the corners and put in temporary barriers along it's backstretch to create a pit area.

Hardly anyone has sat in that huge grandstand they erected on the Superstretch for the past few years. This is an opportunity to actually utilize that asset. I wonder how New Smyrna feels about it? If NASCAR pays enough for those races and promotes it like the old Toyota Showdown at Irwindale, perhaps it will draw more Modifieds and Late Models down who will decide to stay and run the rest of the week at New Smyrna.
