Sanbox's mklib.exe

How do you get the [sign in to see URL] to make a def file?

Re: Sanbox's mklib.exe

From the description it looks like the .def file is the same as the .pck file when working with winmip?
Best bet is probably to unpack a dat with it and see what you get.
If you want to create a new .def you can probably create a new textfile with notepad and then change the extension from .txt to .def.

I've never tinkered with it so these are more or less wild guesses :P

Re: Sanbox's mklib.exe

Thanks for the reply guys

I'm under the impression that [sign in to see URL] make a def file automatically when it unpacks a dat file, but every time I unpack a dat file I don't see a def among the all the files. Without a def file, mklib can't pack to make a dat file.

I thought wimip and some of the older programs used the unpack - [sign in to see URL]'s or [sign in to see URL] - [sign in to see URL]'s from the N2N3 days to unpack and pack tracks.

defbuilder uses the [sign in to see URL] to make dat files which require a def file and that bring this full circle to my question. something tells me its something [sign in to see URL] command that needs to be type a certain way and I just don't see it.

thanks again

I tried it and I didn't get a def file either.
You can either write one manually or use defbuilder [sign in to see URL] and compress the files. That will create a def file that you can edit in notepad emoticon
defbuilder can be a little finicky at times (read post by Steve here [url][sign in to see URL] )
It comes with a helpfile that actually does contain text but it's dark text on black background so you'll have to select the text to be able to see it :P

I thought I remember the def file was included in the unpack folder.

wow........ you really found an old thread, Carl, over at the pits. Geez, I sounded like I knew what I was talking about. And I guess I did back then; I used defbuilder a lot. But like I told that one person, as Wrangler said, sometimes answering questions on boards is like doing surgery via phone.

Didn't have to dig that deep, it's the third result when you google defbuilder nr2k3. Apparently defbuilder isn't talked about much these days emoticon
