Rest In Peace... Our Good Friend

It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you that our long time friend, Dave "Woof" Reuille passed away suddenly today. Those of us who've been around this community for awhile have known "Woof" for a long long time. He helped many people over the years and was very generous with his time and awesome painting skills. There probably aren't many out there that haven't had a car painted for them by Dave or at least downloaded one of his schemes for your collections.

Dave loved his country and proudly served in the military to defend the freedoms we all so very much enjoy here in America.

He was a good friend and a very good man. Rest In Peace...

JR

Thank you for the email; I don't check that email often, nor this site. I'm still trying to figure out how to finish this reply............

I don't know how to do this except as a eulogy........ my god; what a shock. Dave is just a icon in this papyrus world.

Most people here are not even going to know what I'm talking about. They might be able to find it on wayback machine.

Dave and I (and someone who I can't remember anymore but should......) carried on conversations on the old Yellowflag message board. That was 20 yr ago. .

Dave was a veteran in this game long before I came into it (his site, now dead, is still linked for N1 on my old dead site). He painted cars for N1, and offered them on his website, long after N4 was the norm. I have personal cars for N3 and N2k3 that Dave painted for me.

I never met Dave. I've never met a lot of my internet FRIENDS. Here's what I he told me.......

Dave was a long time armed service veteran, who completed his career, and his duty....... and came back to the US to only find he couldn't get a job!!!!!!

He took a consultant job in the mid-east (i.e. mercenary, I guess, or private security).

He then moved to the Philippines with his wife and got hit with 2 of the worst typhoons in history. People from this site contributed to sending him relief aid. I will always appreciate the contributions of those who helped Dave in those times of needs, for simple things we take for granted we can get on the way home.

I don't know how to end this....... I really miss a person I never met. God rest, ye, Dave Reuille.

I'll really miss Dave. I've known him since ICR2. Though I'm genuinely sad he passed away, I'm happy we've met and shared our experiences in sim racing.

On several occasions, Dave has taken the time to rummage through his many back up discs to find me long lost carsets and tracks for N1, N99 and ICR2.

Because he was such a great guy, I always included a #53 in all my personal carsets, with Dave at the helm. And I'll continue to do so, to honour his memory.

I only really got to talk with him once or twice on a TS server and even from that I could tell he was a remarkable and stand up guy. This is just really awful news to hear and he will be missed deeply by anyone who had any contact with him. My thoughts and prayers to his family, and I hope they can draw some comfort from the legacy he left all of us.

I saw these on the internet and thought that I would share them with all of Dave's friends here.

I also saw this reply over in the Sim Design Racing's forums about Woof's passing and it is a very nice eulogy written by a close friend of Dave's, who goes by the name of "Rainbow". It really gives you some background about the man and captures the "essence" of what Dave was all about.

quote:

Thought I would add my insight to a good friend.

The world we live in can be brutal and unforgiving at times. I have read a lot of comments about Dave Reuille since his passing... some good and bad (not here), but across a few places.

Dave was a very proud and giving man and devoted 20+ years of his life to the sim community working with many of the most respected mod makers and painters that the community has known.

I started speaking with Dave back in 2009 and we became very good friends, We both had a passion for racing and car painting and would talk for hours on teamspeak not just about those subjects but our families and life in general.

He was a huge supporter of mine and vice versa and was responsible for large parts of my work. He would help and research many media outlets for reference images to aid me with my base work. Dave would occasionally speak about his struggles in life but never liked to rely on others for help. In recent years he had many upsetting times and many hurdles to overcome from losing his mother to cancer which hit him very hard.

On three separate occasions he lost his home to the effects of the weather and climate where he lived. This would of shattered the lives of most individuals, but he picked himself, up took care of his family, started all over again and rebuilt their lives.

Apart from racing, Dave had a passion for grilling and would regularly volunteer and help his local community.

Dave often commented and left critiques towards peoples' work not to deter them from painting, but to make them excel as painters. 9 out of 10 people actually took his comments onboard and have become better in their chosen field. He would always encourage people to try and attempt things for themselves and didn't really have time for slackers or those who would not give it a go and at least try.

One of his many quotes, "Google is your friend."

True friends are difficult to come by in this world. We never actually met face to face, but spoke most days of the week on teamspeak and shared many memories together.

Some days his connection would be terrible and it would be difficult to understand what he was saying due to his high ping. He would have to keep reconnecting due to his dropping of the connection, but this didn't stop him from trying.

In closing I am proud to have called you my friend and you will be forever missed.

RIP Dave Reuille

JR,

Please pass along (I am no longer a member of SRD...... guess my bubba/bubba got killed) that the post you quote is what I wanted to say. (S)He did it better!

Woof was true internet friend I've known since it seems like forever; it is a lifetime; going on 20 years.
