Hoping For The Best For All Of Our Florida Friends Here

I know that there are many of our regular visitors and contributors here at [sign in to see URL] that live in Florida. That list includes the founder of this site Steve B, along with several other long timers here like Draftdancer, Amtronic and myself. I'm sure there are many other of our regulars who visit here often that are also from Florida.

Here's hoping that everyone is and will be okay, prepared and in a safe place to ride this monster storm out.

Re: Hoping For The Best For All Of Our Florida Friends Here

We squeaked by in the Tampa Bay area for the most part, but Irma did a ton of damage to S. FL, and points north like Jacksonville, Charleston, etc.

I just got power/cable back today (5 days). I've been thru worse....... but I won't bore you with the nightmare stories.

Just getting back into the world today, I checked all the major news outlet websites. I had to scroll down to find even a human interest story about Irma and nothing about Harvey. The reporters moved on to the next shiny object.

Relief/recovery effort is boring, dirty work, and not newsworthy. That doesn't mean its not ongoing just because no one is reporting it.

People lost homes, cars, loved ones.

Folks, if you can donate even $5 to either Harvey or Irma relief, please do so. Don't donate to your phone. The relief organization has to wait for the phone company to send them a check. There are plenty of web sites offering links to donate directly to Red Cross, etc
