Re: St. Pete IRL 2012

Well, nothing is going to be done on my end, unless I get a replacement for the old 13 inch monitor on my sandbox computer. Monitor died, so I stuck that old spare on there.....

I haven't reinstalled the game again yet, so haven't installed Riverside. What wheel did you use there? I took one out of some older track. There was one in Suzuka (or some Japanese track), I think, as well, and it was really large.

I made new stuff for Riverside, I don't think we carried over anything from existing models in the end, we tried, but it was far easier to just build them new from scratch.

Oh, one thing about the race that I forgot to mention........

In newspaper interviews (TV to a lesser extent), none of the drivers showed any sadness that Danica was gone. The big article I read was about "who will be the new face in IRL?" They all were quick to point out that "the previous face" won only one exhibition race, and led limited numbers of laps.

Challenge accepted -- working on stpete_12 ptf.
Goals - Correct pit exit, grass between fr. str. and pits. Going to take out the stuff after T2 and realign that section per on-air video.

Need -- A Dali museum or acceptable stand-in. LP files generated since my LP files barely get the cars back around to complete a lap.

Re: St. Pete IRL 2012

uh....... you're missing a minor point here. Your AI guy (who probably has more laps in on that track than anyone) ain't redoing those LPs, or editing the ini to match the new track you make. I spent 2
months making those first time around.

There isn't room to add grass between the existing track and pits; I tried for the 08 version. You'd have to expand the entire track from T13 up to 14 thru T1, which would throw off the track measurements, and track geometry. The track geometry is pretty close if you lay an outline of the existing track under the ptf of what was created.

remember, this track was made for CART Racing, based on architect drawings of a planned track. Not the real track.

Big new asphalt section between T1-2 that has not been there before. They made a new runway that includes pit road. That would remove a lot of wall, etc.

I asked bowtie to make a Dali...... he ran screaming into the abyss with that multi-poly glass "snake-thingie" that wraps through the building.

Big suggestion....... you play all you want...... you're biting off more than THAT track can handle. That ptf in that track has had well over 100-150 saves; that ptf is VERY fragile.

Justin......

You'd be proud of what he's done and how he did it..... I don't know. Cause I tried what he did and got nothing.

I just, embarrassingly, have not had time to even load up what he has done.

btw...... I'll set you for permissions.

Meadowlands is another good flowing course. I tried to make AI for it and I guess they're passable, but again, at a roadie, you aren't racing the AI, you are racing the track, and this is a great track to test yourself, but enjoy the flow.
