Re: Ini and set-up question

I did a fresh install on my wife's lap top and here is no CTS and GNS settings in the inis form the install tracks. It didn't install the set ups either, mods work fine it didnt update the inis or set ups. I got the patch from a few different sites just to make sure they weren't bad patches.

The 1.1.0.2 patch was pulled after a month because it was broke. The only patch you should install is the nr2003_update_en_1000_1201.exe patch. It is REQUIRED to support all other mods. If you install it correctly, the opening screen will give you the 1.2.0.1 down in the corner. You're good to go after that -- get all the mods you want - the Whelen mod is really good, the BR12 gives you updated cup cars. The Ferrari330 mod is really good for vintage stuff. Hey, look down at my sig and click on the link for the pot of gold. But you knew that.

I still think the gns/cts specifics in the ini comes from installing the 2 mods.
The reason the GNS mod should be installed before (or not at all) the CTS mod is that the CTS mod contained some updates to the gns values too.

That said, like Steve suggested I haven't reinstalled in ages lol.

UPDATED - I keep finding more mods!
--------------------------------------
I agree with Steve, and add clarification. There is one mod you do require to open up the sim to support everything, the 1.2.0.1 update mod.

There are 6 mods that are "official" mods.

1) 1.1.0.2 ; recinded, should never be used since it broke N2K3. From Papyrus/Vivendi.

2) 1.2.0.1 ; Required for everything, considered mandatory. From Papyrus/Vivendi.

3) nr2003_trackpack01_en.exe ; added three tracks-eightbowl, hillside, and papyrus tracks. From Papyrus/Vivendi.

4) pwf_gns_512.exe ; produced by project wildfire. Adds support in track.ini for GNS physics, since this was almost a papyrus effort I include it here.

5) pwf_cts_512.exe ; produced by project wildfire, added support in the track.ini for CTS and GNS, since this was almost a papyrus effort I include it here.

6) pwf_PTA.exe ; also produced by project wildfire, added support for Trans-Am cars, since this was almost a papyrus effort I include it here too.

And all the other well constructed mods which should stand beside these but are not Papyrus/Vivendi/Project Wildfire sourced.

The patch replaced the ini's that came with the initial game to include the patch mods.

The patch opened up mods; so all ini's had to be replaced to include stanzas for the mods, and the patch put the mod setups (expert.bgn whatever) in as well.

PWF tracks came much later (after they got support from John Henry and that guy (my memory is evading me now) that headed up the papy stuff and does iRacing) ... and were all different tracks, or converter tracks (and the converter wasn't out until after the patch).

Is that Dave Kamerrer (sp?) you are trying to remember. Seems I saw he was one of the iRacing founders from the Papy Dissolved.

Re: Ini and set-up question

ok........ its all coming back. I've had to reinstall 3-4 times lately because of reformats. Game is on D drive, but it needs a C drive registry. So, I just reinstall the game; patch it; and copy all the files from the old install over to the new game folder.

install game
install patch - unlocks physics, not mods
install bgn
install cts (it patches bgn ini edits too).

not sure I ever had the PWF Trans AM mod installed. I had the Pits TPTCC.
