Indycar Racing for NR2k3 is here...

After about 19 months work in total, the successor to V8 Indycars is finally upon us:

Credits goto Dave "woofgm" Reuille for his work on the templates, cars and painting of all the pit crews, JRFranklin, Matt O'Reilly & Mike Cooper for beta testing, and Kyle O'Neill for his fantastic artwork used on the mainback screen.

The mod includes 76 fully rated AI cars total, (38 Road, 38 Oval) which include the 26 that started at St Pete this year, plus 12 fantasy schemes painted by Dave Reuille.

Awesome work Ian!!! Thanks a lot to everyone involved in this project. Been waiting for this since you posted the video on YouTube!!! emoticon

One simple question: the old V8 Indycars worked with both PTA and CUP physics; this new mod, as far as I see, works only with PTA physics. Any chance to use it with CUP physics too?

I've always been someone who has leaned mostly towards the "Taxi Cab" type cars of NASCAR. However, I have to say this mod has been more fun racing with than I've had in a long long time. The Indycars and all of their detailing is expertly recreated by Ian. The c0ckpit gauges and dual mirrors are innovative for NR2003 and really ramps up the immersion factor. Combine that with all of excellent real paint jobs by Woof and others and you have one of the finest mods ever created for NR2003!

I guess my long time love affair of the open wheel NASCAR Tour-type Modifieds is somewhat responsible for my new found fondness of the Indycars.

Check it out for yourselves and see what I'm talking about! emoticon

In the short term I'd say just extract the dat and convert it manually (rename everything with a _pta.3do to just .3do, adjust the series.def file and convert the cars over).

The reason I haven't done CUP yet is because the suspension is locked in position, so although it crumples up when you hit stuff, it doesn't react to bumps, the "flaw" in the PTA physics (which have no shock compression simulated) makes this look good, but when you convert the mod to any of the other physics it looks very strange with the wheels moving up and down but the suspension being solid.

I've spend quiet a while trying to get suspension working properly, so has Mathias at the Bullring, but so far we've not had any success, so that's why there isn't a Cup version yet.

@FSB, thanks very much to you too, hope your guys enjoy running 500 miles with this next week emoticon
