To be mentioned in this thread with some of the greats... Steve, I remember that race (was at I-70, wasn't it?). I just *really* liked the place. I never knew *how* to cheat; I practiced a LOT at that place, and got *faster* every time Just wish I had the time to devote to sim racing again; thanks to certain people (you know who you are ), I've got NR2003 back on a computer; I just don't have the time to *race* any more. Thanks to those of you who've provided tracks, cars, car sets, mods, and everything else for these sims. Y'all really helped kick off the old United Shorttrack Alliance with all of the short tracks y'all same out with. Sure do miss it sometimes. Y'all have a great holiday!nondisclosed_email@example.com (JMack12)Sun, 18 Nov 2012 11:36:04 +0000 Re: This sitehttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p2028,from=rss#post2028https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p2028,from=rss#post2028 cleveland124 ...you need to start editing/creating stuff for the sim!...there are a lot of great editors and painters who visit here all the time. This is my first post but I'm sure there are bunches like me that really appreciate all the work and haven't been as vocal. I will tell you this though. This list was a huge help for me. I bought NR2k3 for $16.99 when it was clearenced. My PC at the time only could produce 18 FPS which as you can imagine isn't the greatest experience. So I shelved it knowing I'd love it based past Papy games. Then life caught up to me. School, busy first job. I finally started getting into the game in 2007. So I was playing catch up to grab all the great things for the game. It saddens me as site by site the content is slowing. But I can't blame anyone, I know the unpaid hours that goes into producing the content. I still have a bunch of mods and tracks that I haven't put much or any time into though, so that will keep me off iracing for a while. nondisclosed_email@example.com (cleveland124)Sat, 08 Sep 2012 16:34:38 +0000 Re: This sitehttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p2024,from=rss#post2024https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p2024,from=rss#post2024Cal just disappeared. The site was BST Designs (its still up; just dead, and refers to SRC). He lived in Spring Hill FL (about 30 miles away from me). He was a high school kid. I assume college and life took him away. Glad to see you still around Mark. Didn't Mike S. run "Racing for Jesus"? Man, that site had more pirate tracks than anyone back in the day. Always found that ironic....... LOL oh yeah...... I said I'd tell you a secret if it was you. The year I won the truck championship, that wasn't me behind the wheel for the last daytona race. I was out of town at a meeting. It was my wife. All I had to do was start the race to get enough points for the championship. So, she practiced 2-3 times driving slowly around daytona for one lap. She didn't qualify, and didn't chat (if you wondered why I never responded to "congrats"). She started in last place, drove one full lap and exited; she didn't even pit. I won by X points because "I" started and drove a lap. But those were some of the best races I ever did (and yes, you and I are the best for me - except maybe for one other night, but we equalled my other experience for sure); better even than my original league (Kaleague) because they had so much warp in N2/N99, running thru Kali. Hey, you say you still are hooked up with some them for football...... tell 'em I said hi!nondisclosed_email@example.com (nr2k3tracks)Fri, 07 Sep 2012 19:31:04 +0000 Re: This sitehttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p2021,from=rss#post2021https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p2021,from=rss#post2021Yeah i am that same guy, just A LOT OLDER!! I still remember that race, it may have been the most fun i have ever had in a online race!! and i have been doing it for a long time Its funny how many "old Timers" are still floating around.... this thread has brought back some real great memories, and some not so great lol. Mike is still running his offline league and he gets about 6 to 10 guys that run during the year.... I stop by this site just about every day, and have been doing so for many many years.... Does any one know where Cal went? (Calvin S. I think that as his name) He use to build tracks and had a site for n3. I use to beta test tracks for him, and one day he just vanished. I had 3 or 4 of his unfinished tracks for years, but he never came back and i moved along to NR2k3. Nice to see jasterdan back...... Your cars were the SH#& back in the day, and you have not lost your touch!!! Dave R. (wolfGM) is another i remember from years gone by..... DAVE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY!!! We did have a lot of fun back in the day, even if Jmac did run with us LOL (We love ya Jimmy).....nondisclosed_email@example.com (MarkJ33)Wed, 05 Sep 2012 21:18:44 +0000 Re: This sitehttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p2020,from=rss#post2020https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p2020,from=rss#post2020Mark........ is that you? I'm pretty sure a guy named Mark J-----n ran the Winter Heat series the winters I raced trucks. (I only ran 2 winter heats of trucks). If so, you and I had about 5-10 laps of the best door-to-door racing at I-70 that was ever done! If its you...... too bad you ran out of gas in T3 on that last lap. Not sure I coulda taken you out of 4. Cause you had me in 3-4 and I had you in 1-2. If I'm misconnecting, never mind. If you say it was you, I'll tell you another story about the year I won the championship by runing only one lap at Daytona ........ LOL And Jimmy Mac had to be cheating the one time he ran with us...... LOL. I've never let him forget it, either. His tires were as fresh at pit stop as they were after pit stop. He kicked our butts. And yes, Jimmy was good! So, doubt remains. oh....... and JasterDan brings back lots of good memories too, btw.nondisclosed_email@example.com (nr2k3tracks)Wed, 05 Sep 2012 17:45:23 +0000 Re: This sitehttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p1957,from=rss#post1957https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p1957,from=rss#post1957" Mike S. was one of the guys I used to race in SCW's Winter Heats. Mark got interested in Microsoft Trains so I hung out at theuspits for a while until this place came together. My interest even back then was more track related. I remember using the Talladega track as a substitute for Daytona to try and make an infield course with it. Now I realize that all I was doing was driving around in the infield with a track surface graphic laid down and no real track. nondisclosed_email@example.com (amtronic)Thu, 16 Aug 2012 11:20:37 +0000 Re: This sitehttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p1838,from=rss#post1838https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p1838,from=rss#post1838man,Those were the days my friend !! Here are a couple of my favorites: Evolution. Images done by Steve Banks (a former Sierra board and SRC board member who went by SB (not SB70)). 42 megs Don't get lost in the car changes; pay attention to the tracks too. and a great compilation of online races; (a little over focused on wrecks but still good) In a Blur 60 megs If you never raced GPL, even offline, you may not appreciate the skill being demonstrated in this latter video. Trust me....... its awesome. And remember this is a 1998 game kept alive by its dedicated users. Evolution came out in 2002; where are they now........ I still run 2001 cars.nondisclosed_email@example.com (nr2k3tracks)Sat, 11 Aug 2012 20:43:48 +0000 Re: This sitehttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p1789,from=rss#post1789https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p1789,from=rss#post1789hey, Dave....... memory test here. What was Racing Designs before it merged with the track guys who eventually became Coast to Coast at Simcyberworld? Brian O. ran the site. Racing Designs was a combo name to match the original Brian O. site and the track guys site? It was like Brian's site was something along the lines of "Racing" and the Coast to Coast guys earlier site was like Track Designs. Man....... the only Coast to Coast guy I remember is Tony Krist. Thanks! We've had some good times over the last however-many years. I think N99Connection opened on Speedweeks 1999. Sierra put N99 out in the fall of 98. Craig (one of the Sierra moderators) and set the place up after Bob James dumped his tracklist Google pulled this old RuRa thread http://www.rubbins-racin.com/forums/showthread.php/27816-Old-Papy-NR-Sites/page2 Some great old sites listed here. Design Tech (the owner of that site was only a few miles north of Tampa for me.......) The original tracklist was Bob James Tracklist. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Track/4573/ Wayback link to access it: http://web.archive.org/web/20010411005107/http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Track/4573/ Man, you scroll through that site and it brings back old sites you'd long forgot about, like Phathead's N2 stuff. Are you're old N1 sites still up? He's even got a link to SRC and if you get there, you can pull up old SRC pages. The original N2/99 tracklist http://web.archive.org/web/19990508210332/http://www.angelfire.com/biz2/n99tracks was a Quattro Pro spreadsheet pasted into an html web page. This site is messed up becuase its crossed with SRC stuff. After we opened, Bob put his tracklists back up and Kurtis (webmaster at SRC) and I helped him with it for a bit, then Bob closed again, telling us to go for it. Shortly after, Craig left and I pulled Kurtis and rhamm in....... I did N2/99/N3, Kurtis did GPL, and we brought rhamm in to do ICR, and SRC was born. We later incorporated Ratbag games, when I was into those. Turned that over to Matty (the guy who made a lot of Canadian tracks for 2k3) and then he disappeared. We gave the Heat pages to raybee and he still has them. Lots of good people have come and gone. Coast to Coast, Racing Design, Simcyberworld. Folks you and I knew like MOF, Tim Bassinett, etc. yellow flag etc Its been a good run. I had a lot of fun racing Winter Heats with the guys from Simcyber....... ran my own winter heats. Raced with Kaleague on Kali, ran some stuff on TEN. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nr2k3tracks)Sat, 11 Aug 2012 16:54:16 +0000 Re: This sitehttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p1752,from=rss#post1752https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p1752,from=rss#post1752NR1999, what a great sim that was. I know ...... its way out of date. Real life caught up with me in 2011, and its amazing...... when you walk away from this for awhile, it drops right out of your top 10. Plus, when you get more negative comments that the lists are less useful than other search methods, than you do positive comments that the lists are appreciated...... it tends to affect your motivation (after 13 years of doing it). I have offered the pages to others to update, but no one sucke....... offered to accept the challenge. I do note the N3 guys wanted to take my lists and use them and I said no. So, they made their own........ and kept it updated for about.......... almost 6 months before abandoning it. So, I think 1998 through 2011 is sufficient. Who knows....... I may get bored some weekend and update. Right now, after 4 reformats, I don't even have my html composer software reinstalled. But, if I do get it back, I may update one more time. So, ........ bottom line...... you want your stuff known...... post it here. Lets face it; there are only a few track editors left, and as far as I know, all post here except one group. Car sets..... JR is really good about announcing them here or getting them announced here, and there are other car sites that are much more active. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nr2k3tracks)Mon, 06 Aug 2012 18:03:02 +0000
