Re: This site

man,Those were the days my friend !!

I ran my N1 site until Geocities merged with Yahoo. I did not have the time to make another site. Though I do have all my files from those days,car/tracks/carsets. Even have the superbird carset for N1 that was never released.

hmm Sites-

Mark J. Nelson's Place - The Sim Project

Grandpa J Nascar Simulations Made Fun

Smitty's NASCAR LEGENDS Pit Stop

Old Site mate - Jaster 'Dan is still around, just put out a sweet track for NR2K3.

Jim Keeres of IWCCARS is still around though not in sim racing.I talk with him once a month of so.

Sad to say, a good friend of mine passed away a few years back - Charles Rushing III (Might have known him by his screen name if CrushIII or his site CR3 Motorsports. WE worked together and made - CAV Editing for n1/99

Also still in contact with Jimmy Mc Kinley and Mike Spinelli. Mike I have painted a few nr2k3 cars for and he is still kicking with sim racing.

Am still in contact with Chas from SCW. Have Exclusive Rights to edit/post any or all BB&B tracks.

Re: This site

I worked with Marc Nelson at TSP. we put together the first GTP car set for the ICR2 sim. Mark got interested in Microsoft Trains so I hung out at theuspits for a while until this place came together.
My interest even back then was more track related. I remember using the Talladega track as a substitute for Daytona to try and make an infield course with it.
Now I realize that all I was doing was driving around in the infield with a track surface graphic laid down and no real track.

Mike S. was one of the guys I used to race in SCW's Winter Heats.

Sorry to hear about your old site partner, Rushing; y'all did some amazing work, considering what you had to work with.

What's the new track you mention, Dave? I don't see it announced here. If its out there and you know about it, post a promo here, please. Thanks!

yeah, its been a good run.

Steve,
thanks for the comments about Charles.

The reason the track is not been announced or posted is ----- because I am still learning sandbox w/nr2k3. Remember all my work in N1 & N99 was DOS Tools and 3doed.

Once it is up to my standards, for certain will need a few of my long time sim racers to look it over.... if ya know what I mean... emoticon emoticon

I remember SimCyberworld's car of the week being my favorite thing going back in those days! I was very proud to be the NR1994 car of the year winner in, I think, 1999.

Dave, thanks for mentioning my new track! I have another one coming out hopefully later today, but it's in pretty rough shape since it's in pre-alpha stage.

Let me know if you need any testing for the track you're working on. I'd be glad to help out as best I can!

I use to run with them too, and we are still in the same fantasy football with guys from the old IDRS, something like 10 or 11 years now..... GOOD OLD DAYS!!

Re: This site

Mark........ is that you?

I'm pretty sure a guy named Mark J-----n ran the Winter Heat series the winters I raced trucks. (I only ran 2 winter heats of trucks). If so, you and I had about 5-10 laps of the best door-to-door racing at I-70 that was ever done!

If its you...... too bad you ran out of gas in T3 on that last lap. Not sure I coulda taken you out of 4. Cause you had me in 3-4 and I had you in 1-2.

If I'm misconnecting, never mind. If you say it was you, I'll tell you another story about the year I won the championship by runing only one lap at Daytona ........ LOL

And Jimmy Mac had to be cheating the one time he ran with us...... LOL. I've never let him forget it, either. His tires were as fresh at pit stop as they were after pit stop. He kicked our butts. And yes, Jimmy was good! So, doubt remains.

oh....... and JasterDan brings back lots of good memories too, btw.

Yeah i am that same guy, just A LOT OLDER!! emoticon

I still remember that race, it may have been the most fun i have ever had in a online race!! and i have been doing it for a long time emoticon

Its funny how many "old Timers" are still floating around.... this thread has brought back some real great memories, and some not so great lol.

Mike is still running his offline league and he gets about 6 to 10 guys that run during the year....

I stop by this site just about every day, and have been doing so for many many years....

Does any one know where Cal went? (Calvin S. I think that as his name) He use to build tracks and had a site for n3. I use to beta test tracks for him, and one day he just vanished. I had 3 or 4 of his unfinished tracks for years, but he never came back and i moved along to NR2k3.

Nice to see jasterdan back...... Your cars were the SH#& back in the day, and you have not lost your touch!!!

Dave R. (wolfGM) is another i remember from years gone by..... DAVE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY!!!

We did have a lot of fun back in the day, even if Jmac did run with us LOL (We love ya Jimmy).....

Re: This site

Cal just disappeared. The site was BST Designs (its still up; just dead, and refers to SRC).

He lived in Spring Hill FL (about 30 miles away from me). He was a high school kid. I assume college and life took him away.

Glad to see you still around Mark. Didn't Mike S. run "Racing for Jesus"? Man, that site had more pirate tracks than anyone back in the day. Always found that ironic....... LOL

oh yeah...... I said I'd tell you a secret if it was you. The year I won the truck championship, that wasn't me behind the wheel for the last daytona race. I was out of town at a meeting. It was my wife.

All I had to do was start the race to get enough points for the championship. So, she practiced 2-3 times driving slowly around daytona for one lap. She didn't qualify, and didn't chat (if you wondered why I never responded to "congrats"). She started in last place, drove one full lap and exited; she didn't even pit. I won by X points because "I" started and drove a lap.

But those were some of the best races I ever did (and yes, you and I are the best for me - except maybe for one other night, but we equalled my other experience for sure); better even than my original league (Kaleague) because they had so much warp in N2/N99, running thru Kali.

Hey, you say you still are hooked up with some them for football...... tell 'em I said hi!

Re: This site

Thanks Steve for keeping this site and thanks to all the car painters and track builders. This is my first post but I'm sure there are bunches like me that really appreciate all the work and haven't been as vocal.

I will tell you this though. This list was a huge help for me. I bought NR2k3 for $16.99 when it was clearenced. My PC at the time only could produce 18 FPS which as you can imagine isn't the greatest experience. So I shelved it knowing I'd love it based past Papy games. Then life caught up to me. School, busy first job. I finally started getting into the game in 2007. So I was playing catch up to grab all the great things for the game. It saddens me as site by site the content is slowing. But I can't blame anyone, I know the unpaid hours that goes into producing the content. I still have a bunch of mods and tracks that I haven't put much or any time into though, so that will keep me off iracing for a while.
