Sandbox has a very short fuse and will crash on you without warning. You will loose all your work. To work around this, make many saves during your editing, each with a sequential number attached to the name. Just add 001 to the end of the file name -- [sign in to see URL], [sign in to see URL], etc. When you go to test it, be sure to rename it to the correct filename!

Not a sandbox issue , but a gotcha. If you are modifying an existing track, or using an existing track as a foundation for a new layout, BE SURE to remember the .LP files. If you edit the geometry of the track -- track length, track banking, track elevations -- the LP files will keep you from loading the track in the sim. To prevent this, relocate the LP files to the \trackmat folder.

Re: Sandbox tips

Just throwing out, editing banking will not void LPs, it will load but AI may be goofy.

I have found that new LPs are needed if the length is changed or a corner becomes a straight.

For example, if you raise the curbs @ turn 3 on Sonoma, the LPs will still work, but if you had AI jump those before, now it may be like watching Monster Jam lol.

New Tip - If you have low ram, do not edit heights with the camera view open, this can cause CTDs.

New Tip - Do not lay TSDs across an X section, it makes them float or sink

New Tip - Check for floating objects before you release a track, we all do it even Papy did, see turn 3 @ Pocono for floating trucks and campers lol.

New Tip - If using TS while working sandbox, do NOT use a key for Push to talk, when selecting a texture for an F or W, hitting a key for which a texture does not start with (ie hit x and and no textures start with X) will cause a CTD.

New Tip - When Splitting segments, check your walls, often texture mapping gets messed up when doing so. REMAP them.

Pro Tip - Save Often and take breaks, do not let a program make you mad, if its pissing you off take a break, get a drink, see some women, go race, then come back when you are ready to treat Sandbox like the high maintenance woman it is.

-Setting a W-section to "Wood" properties will kill your car on impact. This is good for making realistic catchfences, which will tear your car apart in real life.

-Annoyed by that trippy graphics glitch when the area beyond the boundaries of a segment comes into view? Import the [sign in to see URL] (if you have one), and it will cover up the outside of the track.
