LEE USA SPEEDWAY is Lighting It Up!
Project: Short Tracks, the team that brings you some of the best and most detailed short tracks for the NR2003 racing simulation, is proud to present our latest project…. “Lee USA Night PST”!
It’s hard to believe that 5 years have passed since the day version of Lee USA for NR2003 was released in 2008 in a joint effort by Mark Royer and me, along with several other contributors. This night version is based on that track with many new extras and enhancements. For those not familiar with Lee USA Speedway, this first class racing facility located in Lee, NH, features a tight 1/3 mi oval with moderate banking. The weekly racing program includes the Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Roadrunners, Hobby Stocks, Iron Man and Small Block Super Modifieds. Special major touring series events held at the track have included the VMRS (Valenti Modified Racing Series), ACT (American-Canadian Tour), PASS (Pro All-Star Series) and the Camping World East Series (formerly the Busch Grandnational North Series).
Like the original NR2003 Lee_USA_2008 track, this night version of the track features fully working pits and A.I. for 25 opponents. The following is a brief summary of all of the things that have been done since the original day version:
• Improved grandstands to more closely resemble the ones at the real track.
• All new "Daytona stands" in turns 3-4 with chair-backs like the real Lee USA Daytona stands section.
• New 3D crowd objects.
• New skies that go through a natural progression from setting sun skies during Practice and Qualifying modes, to an almost fully set sun during Happy Hour and finally to a full night sky for the Race mode.
• 3 New high resolution night skies.
• New open haulers in the infield.
• Night environment including new textures, shadows, shading, horizons and track lighting effects.
• New enhanced and improved A.I. optimized for the WMT, WSMT, MRS, ACT and PASS car sets.
• New asphalt and paint line textures.
• All new animated waving flags.
• Miscellaneous other new objects and textures….too many to mention.
• Practically everything on this track has been addressed and/or improved since the original 2008 day version.
As is the case with all of our PST track projects, there are several contributors who are worthy of thanks. These talented people include: Wayne Anderson, Matt Gilson, Aaron Maynard, Ian Smythe, and Carl Sundberg. In addition to them, there are several others who made objects, textures, etc. that were used in this project. Please be sure to read about all of their contributions in the Lee_USA_Night_PST_README.txt included in the track folder. There are also some very important notes in there about the A.I. and how to get the best results when racing on the track in NR2003.
In our recent night track projects, we have been concentrating on trying to recreate that dimly-lit “Saturday night short track feel”. With Ian’s work on the track lighting, shading and shadows, we feel that we’ve again created a great nighttime environment. And when you couple that effort with the new night skies we’ve embedded in the track, we’re pretty sure that you’ll agree.
…… And as an added bonus, we also have updated the day version of the track with all of the great new features, enhancements and objects highlighted in this night version.
So, with all of that said… Strap in…. Pull your belts tight…. Get up on the wheel…. and get ready for some great door-bangin’ tight short track racing under the lights at Lee USA!!! Enjoy!

You guys have once again, made this old guy from New England heart flutter a bit faster tonight. Just did some laps on the night track. It's simply stunning, and so sweet to drive..
You can see all hours you guys have spent on this track thru all the detail.. Truly amazing! My hats off to each and everyone of you, who helped create this beauty of a track..

Re: LEE USA SPEEDWAY is Lighting It Up!
Thanks to all of you for the great comments and support.
Dave, I'm an old guy from NH (now living in Florida), so I have an affinity for these classic New England and Northeast race tracks and have made it my passion to try to recreate them to the best detail we can for NR2003.
Hellfire463, I have already started work on updating Thompson to current day standards. My w.i.p. has a correct pit road now and I am working on the detailing. No estimate as to when I we will be done with it, but when we are, it will be worth the wait.

Hey J.R.
I ran my first race in a few years last night offline against the AI's. Awesome job man. I even like all the detail you guys put in behind the walls in the tracks. Party tents, the old hot rod, and extra haulers..
Like you, Ray and I started about a year ago on a huge long term project to cover our passion for this. Since Ray is from the South and I'm from the North we are covering both areas. So far we've covered a lot of ground over the past year. Right at the moment we are working in the South.
Like you it's our passion see it come alive also. And you guys are helping in your own way to bringing that passion alive for us to. You guys have no idea how much Ray and I appreciate all that you guys do..
J.R.- You and Ian have to start making a list of models you guys want.. Between all of us, I think we can make a lot of dreams happen between a couple of communities. Get in touch with Ray, or me with your guys dream list. We've made some great head way in the modeling department, and one day as a thank you it goes to you guys. So start dreaming up your list buddy.
Your friend,
Dave
