Firstly, for the history lessons as you work your magic. While I use to enjoy the races on tv here(back in the Tommy Kendall, Ron Fellows days) but they were short lived and they stopped broadcasting them. While enjoying the papy line of sims going back to icr and n1 have never had the urge to turn right. You have changed my feelings towards road/street courses and again I thank you. Secondly, for the hours of work and research done to make this possible for me (and fellow simmers) to enjoy and relive the eras. I know the amount of time this takes up in your life and applaud your efforts, so again thank you. Now a question, with each release of an era, do you have templates available so we can update our cars so they stay the same as the cars released? again thanks for everything you do/have done, it is very much appreciated.nondisclosed_email@example.com (thatguy1313)Wed, 04 Jan 2017 20:25:57 +0000 Re: Highbank's Trans Am Car Setshttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p5826,from=rss#post5826https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p5826,from=rss#post5826Hey "dhenn" that truly made me shout! Thanks for that amazing feedback, I'm glad that I could influence you to giving the "right-handers" a try! As far as the other mods you mentioned, when I get to certain years down the road, both of those mods will be good subjects to paint on...but for now these ASA90 cars were born for this era. I'm amazed how they pull off some of these cars...Camaros with Porsche 944s painted on them, and it works! CRAZY! Once again I say thanks Mr. Franklin, you honor me by your kind words... Also some very early preliminary work on a 1968 Trans Am set for HEAT. (I've done the #6 Sunoco Camaro of Mark Donahue) The team over at The Mod Squad is working up a car viewer for the HEAT VTA mod and Rogue is working on a render scene as well. So that's kind of in the slow mode for now... Back to the NR2003 ASA90 mod for the 1988 TA set. I've done two cars so far, plus my driver car for the set... Here are the three cars about to drop into the "Bus Stop" at the Watkins Glen Boot (Long) track...Of course the '88 Trans Am story was the Audi Quattro team with Hurley Haywood in the #44 Audi taking the title. So this meant doing an Audi template. I'm going to release this at the time of the set release together with the Porsche 944, Mazda RX7, and Nissan 300ZX plus any other templates I make for the set. The second car in the image is the #7 Paul Gentilozzi Olds Cutlass. Gentilozzi won the first race on the 1988 schedule @ Long Beach in his Budwieser Olds. The barely visible third car is my #51 Dayco Ford Mustang driver car...here's another angle of the three cars... Not really hard at work on anything yet, not supposed to be sitting much at all... Always great to find your approval! Chasing is the key here, in 1970 they all chased Parnelli Jones, twcom set the ratings up on the big iconic cars, I just placed the ratings on the cars I painted (most of the backmarkers) In my time running tests and heck just racing myself, I never could get through the field and catch Jones. So I would start in the back, work my way thru the thick traffic of the slower cars (I'm one of those guys actually) but if I could get through to clearer air and get a rhythm going, I get into the top ten and then the work really begins. Mark Donohue never lets you go, Revson is hot and cold, when he's hot watch out, same with Sam Posey, Follmer is tuff. Swede Savage has given me fits several times. Milt Minter is another hot and cold car. Gurney seems to like some tracks better than others. That's quite a list of names! The best ever on the roadies. If you use the grid lists I made from track to track it's interesting because it's like you have to learn a whole new field of cars each round. It keeps you sharp. Glad to here the feedback, glad it's providing you some fun! Thanks! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Highbank)Mon, 31 Aug 2015 23:15:49 +0000 Re: Highbank's Trans Am Car Setshttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p5519,from=rss#post5519https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p5519,from=rss#post5519A HUGE "Well Done" goes out to Twcom and Highback on this awesome nostalgic car set! Plus a couple of special DNSs, AJ Foyt's #56 Bud Moore Boss Mustang and Andy Porterfield's #83 Camaro. The set includes a car list file for each of the 11 races, I'm suggesting Kurt Morgan's "Falcon Hill" be used in place of the Donnybrook race, "New Hampshire RC" for Bryar and "Rainier 7in1" for Kent. "twcom" created a custom "Trans Am" Mainback for set as well as a set of art files, Installation instructions are in the README. Also included is a set of Goodyear racing tires for the cars. Finished the last car a couple hours ago, started doing the peripheral stuff to pack up with the set, double checking things all the little things needed to make it complete. Now I'm just letting it sit a little so I don't forget anything, it gets hectic right at the end. The set is at 114 cars. Every last entry from 1970 that raced plus a couple that didn't. With 108 cars in the set so far, that includes cars that are renumbered from race to race and driver changes...the 1970 Trans Am Car set is just four cars from being complete, five you count the driver change on one of the remaining cars. So it will finish up at 113 cars... TWCOM is handling two of these one of which is a Dodge Dart, he'll work his magic on to complete. I'll be doing the remaining three cars today with any luck. We are hoping for a release this week-end. I'm going straight from painting to locking down links for the tracks we'll suggest for this set. So that's probably the last progress report on this set prior to release! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Highbank)Fri, 28 Aug 2015 12:54:28 +0000 Re: Highbank's Trans Am Car Setshttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p5496,from=rss#post5496https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p5496,from=rss#post5496Checking in with an update: First some candy... Car painting and research goes on and on as we've decided to make this set the ultimate and most complete 1970 Trans Am Car set you'll ever see...in any game and for that matter on the web as we are filling in the gaps as far as the information on this epic year in Trans Am racing.... The way we are accomplishing this is by taking it apart race by race. This means that with the car set you'll get an in-game car roster race by race for all eleven races. Right now the set is at @80 cars with probably at least 20 more coming to include every car that raced at ever race, plus a few extras that didn't race but are interesting footnotes to 1970, including AJ Foyt's #56 Bud Moore Boss Mustang that he was going to run at St Jovite but was never qualified because either A) Parnelli Jones wrecked it while attempting to get it ready for Foyt or B) Jones wrecked his own car and Foyt's Mustang had to be renumbered for Jones who was the points leader at the time. Or there might even be some other story to this, but it has remained a mystery since. So yopu can see we are really pulling out the stops to see that this set is beyond complete. You'll be able to run the 1970 Trans Am Series schedule as it was in 1970 (that is as far as we have tracks for the 1970 schedule, we lack a Bryar so we'll be using New Hampshire RC which stands ion the ground where Bryar once stood) we lack a couple tracks Bryar and Donnybrook for NR2003, so we'll suggest that you sub in New Hampshire RC for Bryar and something else (not decided) for Donnybrook (I'm thinking Nelson Ledges) but the car list will eb provided for the actual races from 1970.How will you stand up to the best of the best as many of these drivers were and are still regarded by the racing community. Here is the completed Lime Rock set on the grid...23 cars, it's complete. That's round two, back to round one it's Laguna Seca with a 21 car set on the grid. It's also complete! The round three set is done, it has 25 cars in it. This was the race at Bryar. Here they are at New Hampshire RC... We lack two cars for round four at Mid-Ohio, but for the moment but we are closing in on them we know drivers and car numbers just need some good photos or descriptions to finish this round. The rest of the eleven rounds have several cars awol at the moment but research is ongoing and more and more leads are developed with every search. We are actually having conversations via the internet with some of these drivers to solve some of the mysteries. It's a blast. So hang in there folks it's coming together very well and I'd guess it'll be done before the end of the month. Stay tuned!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Highbank)Wed, 19 Aug 2015 20:45:46 +0000 Re: Highbank's Trans Am Car Setshttps://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p5488,from=rss#post5488https://bnr2k3tracks.runboard.com/p5488,from=rss#post5488Actually when all else fails you guess BUT, I read a long dry article about making educated guesses when viewing B&W photos, it was a book on the subject, very brain numbing but I learned some tricks that help you make these call when necessary. The good thing is that in 1970, 98% of these cars are wearing factory paint and there are only so many choices in those paint chips. Another factor is that even if you find an old color shot, they can be false colors. Digital cameras have spoiled us! BUT Thanks for the confidence! I think that's part of the reason "twcom" invited me to this party...I'm wondering now if he regrets it as I am a stickler for not calling it done until we've turned over every rock...
