Little preview and a progress report on the 2003 MotoRock Trans Am [sign in to see URL] cars done and counting, had a fourth done but it turned out that the photos I was working from were miss labeled and were from another [sign in to see URL]'s the way it goes with painting retro sets...

That screen grab shows the 33 Boris Said, 99 Paul Menard, and 75 Tim Cowen Mustangs at Watkins Glen. I like to use the Glen track for my testing as I like the action and the cameras with that track. The 2003 Trans Am Season was largely a street racing affair, with the schedule including Denver, Miami, St Pete, San Juan, and Long Beach circuits just to name a few...

Very sorry to hear about your Mother. I know first hand how hard it is to see your parents like this. Here's hoping for the best for both of you.

The 2003 set is off to a great start by the looks of that screen shot. This is going to be another "must have" car set for the NR2003 community. Thanks for sharing your progress on the set here.

Thanks Mr. Franklin, appreciate the thoughts.

I'm hoping for just a touch of the reception the '85 set got, it's amazing how folks have responded to that one, it's at 360 downloads to date. That's just crazy.

So we get back to painting and I jump right into doing a Camaro on the Corvette model based Camaro Template by Phil Wardog. I'm not sure this is the best we can do for a Camaro. I may just move Wardog's Camaro parts (or create my own) over to the Jaguar template to see if I'm happier with that path for the Camaros. It's just so hard to not see a Corvette unless you're looking at the car head on...

This is the #39 Craig Shafer Camaro. Shafer is also in the 1985 set in the #68 Camaro.

Tried the Camaro on the Jaguar [sign in to see URL] worth posting the test, it failed. So it's the Corvette based Camaro for the set.

I think If I were to jump into mod making, this is where I'd start. A '97-2000 Trans Am mod with the boxy shaped cars. A Mustang, Camaro, Olds Cutlass/Pontiac Grand Prix, and maybe a Dodge Daytona.

I'm going to be doing a set (1992) that has the Dodge Daytona's in it probably back to the ASA90 mod for it. There was a two car team that ran them. Archer Bros. Racing Tommy & Bobby Archer

My bad that isn't a 1992 car there, not sure when it was run, but Bobby Archer ran the #32 and his brother Tommy drove the #3 in '92.

Re: 1985 Bendix Trans Am Car Set (ASA90 Mod)

I've decided to put the 2003 set aside and move on to the 1992 set on the ASA90. The lack of a good Camaro just sinks the 2003 set for me, I can't seem to muster any excitement to keep at it because of it. It's a difficult thing to do a car set without having in the back of your mind the whole time that it won't really be a complete set without the Camaros. So I have to move on and look at it some other time.

I am excited about returning to the ASA90 mod and doing this '92 set. Lots of great cars, some I'm sure are familiar to lots of folks. '92 saw the return of the Big 3 in full as Dodge brought their Daytona into the fray. They were competitive so for the first time in many years we have Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge going at it in Trans Am. It was a big field of Camaros against a few Mustangs, and the two Archer Brothers' Dodges. All three makes had wins and the seasons 11 race wins were spread around among several drivers.

It'll be a great set I think.

Sounds exciting, Highbank. Looking forward to monitoring your progress on it.

As for the 2003 PWF TransAm mod, I agree with you 100%. They should have had the Camaro in there. Unfortunately, that's one of the drawbacks of NR2003... the 4 model limit. If you had the Camaro in the 4, then you're stuck with a very tough decision on which one of the remaining models to eliminate. Basically a no-win proposition.

Oh well... on to 1992! emoticon
