Re: Highbank's Trans Am Car Sets

Thanks for saying that Phil, your words of encouragement very much appreciated. I know I am getting the most out of this, but it's good to give it back to the community.

Thanks again.

As of today the 1992 Trans Am set is up to 32 cars, I got the three Corvettes for the set done and I'm going to dig through the result again and do some more research hoping to find some pictures of some of the single race cars. Some are just ghosts I'm afraid and unless something shows up in another search they'll remain ghosts. That makes me sad, but there's only so many ways to search.

Here is pic of ex Bruce Jenners 72 Camaro a few years back. The body has been changed over to a more modern shell, likely 1992 - 1994.

Thanks for posting those Chris, it's really cool to see how that car has survived to go on racing. Hope we get to see the new scheme when it gets decided and completed.

Re: Highbank's Trans Am Car Sets

Way back in January, 2015 I decided to paint a car set. I wanted to give back to the sim racing community, I also wanted to do something that might endure for some piece of time. I decided to do something that I thought might not be that well received in the community but something that I was passionate about just the same. I thought at the time I posted it, and I'll say also I was a little nervous about posting it thinking it could be a total flop. I wondered to myself, "What if no one downloads it? How will I feel?" So I threw all thoughts of failure to the wind and uploaded my 1985 Trans Am Car Set on March 14, 2015. I would also mention that that date is meaningful to me as it is the date my Father died in 2012, my Dad was the one who brought auto racing into my life, he took me as a 9 year old boy to Riverside International Raceway for everything, Ontario Motor Speedway for the Indy cars and stock cars on an oval, and Corona Speedway to see the Midgets and stockers on dirt for the first time in 1968. So it was a somewhat difficult day for me, all that was hanging in my mind as I posted the set to Mediafire. No please understand I mean I wasn't looking for fanfare or anything, I just hoped that 10 to 15 people might maybe want something like this, something I worked hard on and that would be epic...So today is my Father's Birthday, he would be 89.

Every few days I check to see how the ole set is doing. make sure the download link still works, etc...I have been amazed how the set still is being downloaded. Today is a special milestone for the 1985 set and well, I guess for me as well. On my Dad's birthday, today, the set hit 500 downloads.

So I took the set out on the ole "Watkins Glen Long" and snapped up some pics to celebrate the milestone.

I have to say, I am amazed at how well those Nissans and Porsches worked out...

Thank you folks for your downloads, it means more than I can tell you!

Re: Highbank's Trans Am Car Sets

Back to the 1992 set, things are getting toward the end of this project, the set has 43 cars in it now and I feel like I need to call it with a just couple more maybe. I've begun doing the crews and got 17 or 18 done today. I need to make some long race tests at a few tracks and dabble with the ratings a little bit more, but I feel like it'll be done very soon.
Image
I added the #10 Don Sak Cutlass today, an important car for the set and a couple yesterday.

Here is a shot of the set at 41 cars on Riverside's main straight.

Re: Highbank's Trans Am Car Sets

Thanks Phil!

UPDATE: I got the rest of the pit crews painted today, ugh, what a chore. I've decided that I will never leave them until the end again. It's too much f a chore to do 43+ crews in a row...from now on I do the crews as I do the cars....

Just a couple more cars I think and then it's done.

I did do some long race testing to check my ratings, made some adjustments...and now it's almost there...

Re: Highbank's Trans Am Car Sets

As the 1985 Trans Am Car set passes 540 downloads, I'm happy to release the 1992 Trans Am Car Set...
Image
DOWNLOAD LINK: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2hez0whxxttlh9d/1992_Tide_Trans_Am_Car_Set.rar

"1992 Trans Am Car Set README"
About the set...
This is not intended to be a complete representation of ALL the cars or drivers that appeared in the Trans Am in 1992.
The set would be over 60 cars and would be largely a work of fiction in that many cars mentioned by the various sources
used to develop this set have no source photographs to paint cars from. So because of that, it was a matter of finding what was available.
Many, many hours were spent seeking as much reference material as possible for this set, and several reference sites were accessed to
create the roster used. Not all cars that did have photographs were included in this set. Again, it's a matter of making some decisions
about what is a "good" representation of the 1992 Trans Am. Since the NR2003 Platform is limited to 43 cars, we have to subtract one
from that for a human driver so we have a maximum of 42 "ai" cars. That number can drop depending on which track you are running so it
was decided that 48 cars was where the set would end up. In 1992, we have some driver swaps, so those cars are included in the set, of course the game will select which car with the same numbers it will use so you'll have to select them yourself if you want Robby Gordon in the #15 instead of Willy T Ribbs, as an example. Only the #15 and #75 have duplicates as I tried to avoid this situation as much as possible.

NOTE: You will find three additional cars in the set that are fictional. The #46 Mustang, which is my personal driver. The #47 Daytona, and #63 Mustang are cars I did as "personal drivers" for some great friends of my work. This is just my way of saying thanks for your kind words and constant encouragement via words, posts, and actions which I shall not go into here. THANKS!

Ratings...
The ratings were developed by creating a matrix based on the results of all 15 of the races on the schedule. This is not intended to be a "perfect"
rating of each driver but more an attempt to give the field an approximation of the 1992 Trans Am fields and give a human driver an
opportunity to "put themselves into" that era and that series. The cars obviously do not have perfect physics to simulate the 1992 Trans Am cars this
set is intended to represent, but is intended to be more a "fun" way to drive the 1992 Trans Am Series.

Installation...
Simply unpack the rar file into your "papyrus/nr2003/series/asa90_cts/cars" folder, choose a car from the set or outside the set and drive!
Note that the car set is using the "cts" physics, so your version of the ASA90 mod must also use that physics.
If you want to convert to another physics set up, you have my blessings.

Disclaimer...
I claim no copyright to these cars, the mod, the game or anything in this file. I painted each and every car included. Many of the decals
(but not all by any means) I created. I used no ones numbers or number sets, logos or paint bases. It all came from my own hand via my computer and Corel PSP x5 for the most part. Some PS CS6 work was also done.

The one exception is the #0's "BAJA" logo which was graciously made by "SAGE" and I deeply appreciate that he took the time to do that logo. THANKS!

================================================================================================================================================

PLEASE NOTE: The set is built on the "cts" physics version of the ASA90 mod by DMR.

================================================================================================================================================
In 1992 the SCCA Trans Am Series was sponsored by Tide. The series ran an eleven race schedule:

1-Long Beach- 4/11/92 (45 Laps/Winner: Robby Gordon #15 Mustang)
2-Detroit (Belle Isle)- 6/2/92 (48 Laps/Winner: Tommy Archer #3 Daytona)
3-Portland- 6/20/92 (52 Laps/Winner: Paul Gentilozzi #75 Camaro)
4-Mosport- 6/28/92 (40 Laps/Winner: Scott Sharp #33 Camaro)
5-Des Moines- 7/12/92 (50 Laps/Winner: Scott Sharp #33 Camaro)
6-Lime Rock- 7/25/92 (66 Laps/Winner: Ron Fellows #4 Mustang)
7-Watkins Glen- 8/8/92 (42 Laps/Winner: Jack Balwin #25 Camaro)
8-Trois Rivieres- 8/16/92 (50 Laps/Winner: Jack Baldwin #25 Camaro)
9-Road America- 8/22/92 (25 Laps/Winner: Ron Fellows #4 Mustang)
10-Mid-Ohio- 9/12/92 (45 Laps/Winner: Gregg Pickett #6 Camaro)
11-Sears Point- 10/4/92 (40 Laps/Winner: Darin Brassfield #74 Camaro)

Jack Baldwin won the championship in the #25 Hot Wheels Camaro in a hotly contested season battle with his team mate Scott Sharp who drove the #33 Duracell Camaro. An interesting thing to note is that among the other winners in '92 were Paul Gentilozzi and Darin Brassfield who both drove the #75 74 Hunting Ranch Camaro with Brassfield filling in at the last race at Sears Point.
=====================================================================================================================================================

This set comes with my permission to convert to any format, or any game or mod or whatever. Consider giving credit, but in the end you must live with yourself.

Thanks and enjoy!
